Statement:
My portraits of Italians celebrate the mystery of Italy, its culture and its traditions. In this "May Day" portrait a young man from Assisi carries a flag of an appropriate color as he advances into the bright sunlight. The painting is meant to be a metaphor for Italy and its people who struggle for peace and prosperity in a much troubled world.
