Jerry Ross has received a painting award in Italy in the Circolo Artistico Frigerio competition (Milano).

He received a gold medal and the opportunity for a one-person show in Milan next May (2006).

Ross submitted two of his works (the "Canale Grande" in Venice and a Tuscan landscape) into a competition in Corsico, on the Naviglio just south of Milano. The competition was under the auspices of Cirolo Artistico Frigerio, an artist group.

The 'motivazione' for the jury giving Ross the prize was "un naturalismo di matrice novecentesca ed un cromatismo tonale di forte effetto plastico costruiscono un'atmosfera compostamente poetica" ("a sort of naturalism founded upon a twentieth century matrix and a tonal type of chromatism with a strong, sculptural effect to construct a composed, poetic atmosphere."

This is the second painting competition Ross has entered in Italy.

The first one was in Livergnano (Bologna) sponsored by "Gruppo amici di Livergnano" and he won second classificato (place) and a purchase award in September 1996.

Jerry Ross lives in Eugene,Oregon where he has his studio. He has exhibited often in Italy (Milan, Bologna, Rome) and in Las Vegas where his sister, Diane Bush, is a well-known photographer and art director.
