Barbara Weinstein has a BA in art history from Syracuse University, and attended Cooper Union Art School and the Art Students League in NYC. She has also pursued a career in helping others through art and play therapy for many years. She is awed by the transformational ability of art in healing, and has also continued to enrich her own life through painting from life, especially focusing on portraiture. Barbara Weinstein has a BA in fine art and art history from Syracuse University. She also attended Cooper Union Art School and the ArtStudents League in NYC before moving west in 1970. since that time she has acquired more degrees and experience and has spent many years helping children and adults utilizing art as therapy. She has continued to foray into drawing and painting in many media, delighting in portraiture, figurative work, landscape and imaginal imagery.

She has taken workshops with northwest notables such as Adam Grosowsky, Jerry Ross , Eric Sandgren, and others. Barbara has shown her work at Maude Kerns Art Center, Coos bay Art Museum, Jacobs Gallery, Diva Gallery, Brownsville art center, Bend Community college, and many other local venues since 1995. Recently she discovered the joy of gouache, an opaque water medium, which can capture the immediacy of our ever changing landscape with effectiveness.

Her work aims to be expressionistic and colorful She has participated in shows both group and solo in Eugene, Coos Bay and Bend. Her love of working from life also extends to plein air and she has recently become enthralled with the Macchia style.she looks forward to greater adventures in art and learning from obsering the world around her.
